Melanie Marie Adcock-Humphries

On August 24, 2021, Heaven called home one of it’s most loving servants. Melanie was welcomed by the open arms of her mother, Edna Marie Adcock, who preceded her in death.

Melanie was born in Bartow, Florida and was a resident of Baton Rouge for over 50 years.

Melanie graduated from Baton Rouge Magnet High School and attended LSU before beginning a successful career with Group Insurance, Inc. where she served her work-family as Director of Brokerage Operations.

‘Mel’ or ‘Mama Mel’ as she was known by so many is survived by her husband of 23 years, Steven Jon Humphries, her daughter Hailey Humphries, step-daughter Crystal Palermo, her father Bennie Lee Adcock, Sr., brother Bennie Lee Adcock, Jr. and wife Leisa, sister Ruth Ann Adcock, parents-in-law Charles and Sharon Tinsley, Patricia Magee Humphries, brother-in-law Michael Humphries, sister-in-law Lauren Martin and husband Dan, nieces: Lindsay, Rachel, Erica, Hannah and Emily as well as loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that were her family.

Anything Melanie set out to do, she did full force. She was unapologetically determined. Mel loved big and had a heart for all God’s children, making everyone she encountered feel deeply important and cared for. She was the rock of our family and taught us all how to be strong in even the hardest times. Melanie was always happiest relaxing on the water at the family camp on Belle River. To know Melanie was to know her heart for the Lord and Melanie loved serving at Healing Place Church where she was a long-time member.

We will celebrate Melanie’s life on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10am - 1pm with a service to immediately follow.
