Mercedes Eve Borne Daigle of Baton Rouge died on June 30, 2025 at the age of 97.
Mercedes was born into a large family to parents Noelie and Jules Borne residing in Assumption Parish during her childhood. With many brothers and sisters, she was a survivor, living beyond the death of her husband, siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, and a granddaughter, Rochelle Daigle.
Mercedes is survived by two sons Kenneth Daigle (Marcia) and Darrell Daigle (Stephanie); grandchildren Vanessa Almond, Christine Daigle, Anthony Daigle, Tyler Wilson and Lexie Triplett; and two great-grandchildren Christian Almond and Benjamin Almond.
In 1950, Mercedes married Wilton Daigle, sharing a long marriage until Wilton’s death in 2003. Mercedes kept Wilton well fed with traditional Cajun cooking in a well-managed home. Her talents in the kitchen were legendary to those who knew her. Mercedes was a master at life skills, honed by necessity, not by formal education.
She was an active member of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church for many years, she was a woman of faith, daily demonstrating her love for family and friends. Mercedes was the quintessential woman of her generation with strength, wisdom and devotion her trademarks.
Pallbearers Benjamin, Christian, Anthony, Bruno Millalaf, Brent Daigle and Scott Daigle will carry Mercedes to her final resting place next to Wilton and Rochelle.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, starting at 9:00 am with memorial service at 11:00 on Monday July 7th.
The family would like to thank the staff at Holly Court Assisted Living Facility and Audubon Hospice for providing quality care. Her care givers Ingrid, Sage and Sharon provided exceptional care during her final months.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her name to the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul.
