Michelle Sanders Barrett

Michelle Sanders Barrett passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, with her precious son, Hudson - her angel in life - holding her hand, and the support of her family and friends, throughout it all.  Michelle had cancer for the last three years, she fought it every day, never complaining and always with a smile on her face.  

She was born July 13, 1967, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Billy Travis Sanders and Jennifer Jackson. Michelle was a graduate of Belaire High School, Class of 1985.   She was a resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her father.   Michelle is survived by her mother; her loving son, Hudson Barrett; her brother, Michael Sanders; her former husband and father of her son, Dana Barrett; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family, and devoted friends.

Michelle spent most of her adult life working as a daycare teacher with Country Day School of Baton Rouge. Her gentle, kind and attentive nature impacted so many children – even those who were not in her class. She has maintained relationships with many of the children she taught throughout their school years and beyond.

We are asking that everyone that can attend her celebration of life wear pink, her favorite color, in honor of the bright mark Michelle made on us all!  

Friends and family are invited to the funeral services at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge.  A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m.   Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. 

Michelle was happiest with her family and friends.   You could find her in her backyard, enjoying her pool and gardens.  Although her time on earth was not long, we will forever cherish the memories we made with her.  She truly lived life to the fullest, always with kindness and love.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Michelle Sanders Barrett may be made to The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge.
