Myrna Selser Jolissaint

Myrna Selser Jolissaint passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born on October 18, 1929, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to William Cain Selser and Elsie Hemphill Miller. She attended Touro Infirmary School of Nursing and later completed LPN training at B.R. Vocational Technical Nursing School, scoring the highest on the state licensure examination for practical nurses in Louisiana. This success laid the groundwork for her lifelong career as a licensed practical nurse. She was a dedicated member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.

Myrna’s career as a nurse taught her to have great compassion. She was truly devoted to caring for her patients, and above all else, her family. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crocheting, creating beautiful handmade gifts for those she loved.

Myrna is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, George Sitman Jolissaint; daughter, Deborah Jolissaint Rodney (Steve); son, Matt David Jolissaint (Falynn); grandchildren, Nicole Wireman, Adam Jolissaint, Courtney Henderson, Rachael Hunsucker, Terry Rodney, Laura Jolissaint, Joey Russell, Stephanie DeLisi, Renee Warren, Monique Savage, Danielle Jolissaint, Carrie Potter, and Alexis Jolissaint; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Wiley George Jolissaint (Brenda), and Dale Christopher Jolissaint; and sisters, Elsie Rhea Selser Rodney and Mozelle Selser Mumme Browning.

The family extends its deepest gratitude to Adam Warren for the comfort of his personal service, Miss Pat and The Dedicated Sitters team, as well as the Audubon Hospice team for their support and loving care.

The family will attend a private service.
