Nellie Wilks

Nellie Mace Sowers Wilks, 86, was called home by our Lord on March 3, 2022.

She was born in Jonesboro, LA to James and Lunar Moffett Sowers on January 14, 1936, and settled in Baton Rouge, La with her husband, Bob, to raise her family.

She was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but most importantly, a child of Christ.

Nellie poured love into everything she accomplished and dedicated her life to serving others. She was incredibly proud of the family she helped to build.

She is survived by her three children, Terry Wilks (Lee), Jerry Wilks (Bonnie), and Donna Geoghagan (Kenny); 8 grandchildren, Terry Steven Wilks, Jr. (Keli), Holly Hanley (Kevin), Hunter Wilks (Morgan), Jeffrey Wilks (Sherry), Jeremy Wilks (Stephanie), Ashley Maness (Andrew), Kevin Geoghagan (Megan), and Kasey Geoghagan; 14 great-grandchildren, and siblings Lorene Maxwell and Milton Dale Sowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Wilks; her parents; sisters Myrtlene Beach and Mary Reitsma; brothers Harvey, George, Cecil, James, Carles, and Loyd Sowers.

Although we grieve her passing, we must remember our Father celebrates the arrival of his daughter.

Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home from 1:30 to 2:00pm on Monday, March 7 with a funeral service in the chapel at 2:00. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
