Pam Cox Causey, age 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Pam was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Raleigh Edwin and Mildred L. Cox. She graduated from Istrouma High School in 1966, after which she pursued a degree in Education from Louisiana State University. Pam spent most of her life working as a purchaser for Louisiana State University, but she was able to find joy in her second career as a secretary treasurer for her husband’s company, Causey Equipment Company Inc.
Pam married the love of her life, Carl E. Causey, on August 31st, 1968. They spent 55 wonderful years together, raising 2 children and many rescue dogs. From hound dogs to dachshunds to one-eyed chihuahuas, Pam was passionate in her mission to rescue pups and give them the loving home they deserve. She loved to dance and was known to bust a move whenever the mood struck her, even if it meant she had to aggravate Carl to do so! Pam and Carl enjoyed volunteering in events at the VFW. She also served a term as president of the Baton Rouge General’s Volunteer Auxiliary, where she aided nurses, doctors, and patients in and around the operating room. Pam was a devoted parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, which she attended for most of her adult life after she and her husband moved to Greenwell Springs.
Pam is preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh Edwin and Mildred L. Cox; brother, Raleigh L. Cox; paternal grandparents Wilfred and Bertha Jarreau; maternal grandparents Big Daddy Cox and Leona Cox; and her dear dogs Emma and Sandy Boo.
Pam is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carl E. Causey; son Ryan Causey; daughter Amanda Causey; and grandchildren Sierrah and Cayden Causey.
The family would like to give special thanks to Pam’s two cousins, Ruth Young and Geri Krintel, who were more like sisters to her, to their neighbor Jennifer LeBlanc, and to the doctors and nurses of Hospice of Baton Rouge.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pam's name to the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS).
