Dr. Paul Gregoire Catrou

Dr. Paul Gregoire Catrou, a distinguished physician, educator, and devoted family man, passed away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the age of 77. A native of Napoleonville, Paul was born in New Orleans on April 25, 1948, to the late Yves Pierre and Doris Delaune Catrou.

Paul dedicated over 45 years to the field of medicine, serving as a revered professor and researcher at both East Carolina University and Louisiana State University Medical Schools. A pioneer in clinical informatics, he authored numerous research papers and co-authored several medical textbooks, leaving an indelible mark on the next generation of physicians.

Beyond his professional achievements, Paul was a man of diverse passions. He was a licensed pilot, a skilled computer scientist, and an enthusiastic ham radio operator. He was known by all as a gentle, generous soul whose integrity was beyond reproach. His family finds comfort knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife and the love of his life, Patricia Templet Catrou.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 38 years, Patricia Templet Catrou; and his brother, Pierre Henri Catrou.

Paul’s legacy lives on through his son, Paul Marcel Catrou and partner Debra Lynn BoyKin; his sister-in-law, Frankie Doiron Catrou; his niece and goddaughter, Angele Catrou Hebert and her son Dakota; and his nephew, Jean-Pierre Marcel Catrou, his wife Annie and their children.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul’s life on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 5604 Highway 308 in Plattenville. The Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at the church cemetery.
