A retired bus driver with the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, she died at 5 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 92, a resident of Flannery Oaks Nursing Home and a native of Arcadia. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, May 22, from 9 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by Brother Dennis Allen. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by a daughter-in-law, Iris Almond; two granddaughters, Shannon Schwartz and husband Clifton and Kelley Stein and husband Trent; grandson, Brian Almond; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Louise Moreland, Ione Byrd and Janet Hall; four nieces, a nephew and former daughter-in-law, Carole Davison Almond. Preceded in death by her son, Charles Edward Almond; husband, Edward E. Almond; and parents, Lizzie Belle and Jefferson Baker. Pallbearers will be Trent Stein, Johnnie Long, Morris Crochet, Todd Crochet, Grant Crochet and Clifton Schwartz. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Baker.
