Richard Eiche, 85, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on September 22, 2021. His home flooded on May 17, 2021, and they had been living in a hotel, but he died peacefully at The Carpenter House. He was an educator in the truest sense of the word. He spent his whole career working to improve conditions for teachers and students and to give them all hope for a brighter future. He served in the Army for three years and was stationed in La Rochelle, France. He was married to Melanie Miller Eiche who was his soulmate and the love of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley B. Eiche and Edith D. Eiche; a brother, a sister, and a daughter, Susan Eiche Green.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie; daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Eiche Paul of Conway, South Carolina; three grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
A graveside service will be held later at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
