Robert "Pete" Martin, Jr.

Robert Lee “Pete” Martin, Jr. passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the age of 67.  He was a beloved friend to many, native son of Brooklyn, and longtime Louisiana resident.

He spent his career as a United States Merchant Marine officer, engineer, and union official in the maritime industry.

Robert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Denise L. Martin; seven children, Ayanna Jarvis (Darryl), Damieon Martin (La’Toya), Donte Martin, Glenn L. Coleman (Rosemary), Robert L. Martin III, William L. Martin (Ashley), and Ryan P. Martin (Elizabeth); 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin Martin (Carolyn), Leroy Martin (Teresa), and Bruce Mack (Deborah); and brother-in-law, Allen Leonard (Joycelyn); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gloria Martin; brother, Horace Martin; and two sisters, Bernadine Trotman and Shelia Martin.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, July 26, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Jude Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
