Ronald Coco

July 30, 1936 — August 17, 2021

Ronald Richard Coco, 85, passed away August 17, 2021. He was born in Moreauville, LA on July 30, 1936 to the late Willie J. and Laura May Juneau Coco. Ron graduated from Moreauville High School, graduating with honors.  He received a Junior Accountant certification from Draughon Business College in Baton Rouge and then joined the United States Army and served in Korea as a Sergeant, Specialist 2nd Class.  Upon his return to civilian life, he worked his way up from tying newspapers at the American Press in Lake Charles to an office accountant, while attending night school at McNeese University. Ron then accepted an accounting position with South Central Bell in New Orleans, LA and continued night school at Tulane University where he earned his BA in Business Administration.  Always having a thirst for knowledge, he continued to pursue his education by earning his Master of Business Administration from Loyola University, and later served as a Professor of Accounting at St. Mary’s Dominican College.  Ron continued to work for South Central Bell becoming one of the early computer pioneers at their data center in Nashville, TN and retired as the head of their Internal Auditing Department.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents. Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Joann Brouillette Coco, sons Richard Ronald Coco (Suzanne Sublette), Kirk Emmanuel Coco (Danielle Viguerie), daughters Crystal Coco Hinds (John L, III (Jonathan)), Paige Coco Bennett (Bryan Charles); grandchildren Joshua, Jeannette and Sean Coco, Tara, Jonathan (IV) and Colin Hinds, Emily, Meredith and Matthew Bennett, and Kirk (II) and Cary Coco; great-grandchildren Noah, Andrew, Elijah and Katy Mills, Tynan and Tayden O’Brien, Luca, Ravi and Sevi Hinds; sisters Gloria Coco Armand and Peggy Coco Hunter; and loving brother-in-law and nephews.

Ron was a devoted husband and father who was a moral compass for all who knew him.  An instant charmer, he never met a stranger and frequently knew more about someone than they knew about themselves. Ron was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Master. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral Services will be held at St. George Catholic Church (7808 St George Dr, Baton Rouge, LA) on Saturday, August 21, 2021 with Visitation starting at 9:00 am and Mass starting at 10:00 am.  Burial will be at the Lakelawn Metairie Cemetery (5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA) later that day.
