Rose Piper

Rose Marie Saia Piper, born August 22, 1938, went to her heavenly resting place on May 28, 2022. She was 83 years old. She was a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana for most of her life and she passed while receiving hospice services at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John Saia and Angelina Denicola Saia, and her brothers, Rosario Joseph “RJ” Saia and Dominic “Bubbie” Saia.  She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carroll John Piper; her two children, John-Paul Piper (Renee) and Susie Piper Burns (Benjy); and four grandchildren, Corinne Rose Freeman (Corey), Davis Keith Normand, Hayden Robert Piper and Riley Renee Piper; and her sister, Mary Nora Saia Cormier.

Rosie graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1956. She was a loving and dedicated foster parent to many children. She enjoyed a long career at St. George Catholic School, teaching religion to students and served as financial manager. After retiring in 2006, she enjoyed volunteering at nursing homes, shopping, cooking for others and spending time with friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held at St. George Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.  Please consider a donation to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
