Ross Pottschmidt

January 10, 1955 — August 16, 2021

Ross Olin Pottschmidt, age 66, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on August 16th, 2021.

A native of West Hollywood, FL, Ross called many places home in his lifetime, from Alaska to Guam, as the child of a U.S. Navy family. He attended Tulane University where he studied French and economics and developed a deep love of New Orleans. He moved to Lafayette shortly after graduation, and there met the love of his life, whom he married in September of 1982. They made their home in Baton Rouge, where their three children were born and raised. He was a blessing and a light to all those he met, a hard worker, and a generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply and terribly missed.

Ross is survived by his wife, Catherine Courville Pottschmidt, and their children Chelsea Elizabeth Pottschmidt Stage (and husband Benjamin), Olivia Chloe Pottschmidt, and Christian Allen Pottschmidt. He is also survived by his mother Barbara Ann Babineaux Pottschmidt and siblings Valerie Pottschmidt Cleveland and Eric Pottschmidt, and grandson Henry Allen Stage.

He is preceded in death by his father, Norman Christ Pottschmidt, Jr., and his grandparents Norman Christ Pottschmidt, Sr., Carolyn Schumaker Murray, Robbie Dean Pottschmidt, Eola Broussard Babineaux, and Delano Lawrence Babineaux.

A private family visitation and funeral were held Friday, August 20th, 2021 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Tulane University in New Orleans, LA or donate school supplies to your local public school.
