Ruby Firmin Bacon, a native of Simmesport and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the age of 92. Before retiring, she spent her career working as a lab assistant at the Pathology Group of Louisiana

Ruby was a member of the Sunshine Band, where they played at multiple nursing homes. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a well-loved woman who never met a stranger.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Brown (Robert), Melanie Bacon, and Roger Bacon; grandchildren, Kristi Brown, Carl Brown (Kim), Neill Raney (Kelly); great-grandchildren, Luke Maggio, Ainsley Maggio, Aria Brown Chi, Preston Raney, Pierson Raney, and Paxton Raney; sister, Elaine Bacon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lurry Bacon; daughter, Karen Raney; parents, Lemmie and Luby Firmin, and her siblings Lurry Adams, Lemmie Firmin, Wallace Firmin, Lena Jeansonne, Marjorie Maddie, Nelda Purpera, Bernice Latino, Madeline Elliott, and Jean Firmin; and very special friend, Wade Pynes.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on August 24, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
