Russ Naylor passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on June 18, 1952, to Russell Dorl Naylor, Sr. and Freda Sovine Naylor. He attended the former Stonewall Jackson High School in West Virginia. He eventually moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1972, to be closer to his family.
In 1975, he began his tenured and successful career with Union Carbide. He retired as a purchasing manager with Dow Chemical after 35 years. He relished the opportunity retirement gave him to spend time honing his skills on the fairways playing golf. He was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a game played by his beloved New York Yankees or the LSU Tigers!
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Norvell Bostick and his sister Joyce Hawkins. He is survived by his loving wife Yvonne Naylor; their sons Billy Naylor and wife Tricia, and Michael Naylor and wife Christal; his adoring grandchildren Gabby, Dylan, Juliana; and his step-grandchildren Alyssa, Zoe and Olivia; and his great-granddaughter Maddison; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge Old Jefferson Community Care Center, especially Tesha and Kenya, who provided constant and compassionate care to Russ and his family over the last five years.
Russ was a hard worker. He loved to make others laugh. His kind and genuine nature was evident to all, and he never missed an opportunity to make you feel special. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a good friend to many. We will cherish the memories we hold dear forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge.
