Samuel Allen

Samuel Hugh Allen, age 86, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on April 25, 2020.

Sam was born in Bushmills, Northern Ireland, served with the British Commandos, and graduated from the University of Glasgow with a degree in Engineering.

Sam sailed the world as Chief Engineer for Royal Dutch Shell Oil and adventured in Jamaica while working for Alcon Corporation. Sam spent the last 30 years of his career working as a Professional Engineer for Dow Chemical.

Sam is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eileen Doherty Allen; his four children, Paul Allen and wife Sharon, Caroline Golden and husband Bill, Mary Jo Somerville and husband David, and Mark Allen; his four grandchildren, Joey and Jimmy Golden, Michael and Anna Somerville.

Sam enjoyed travelling, fishing, boating, time spent with family and friends, working hard, and a good drink and cigar.

We will miss his adventurous and loving spirit.

A private family service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home Wednesday, April 29th.
