Sarah Smith

Sarah R. Smith, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on December 10, 2021.

Sarah was born in Rosario, Puerto Rico. She moved to Oakdale, LA, to live with her brother, Lorenzo Ramos.

While in Oakdale, she met her husband of 68 years, Fred Smith. They lived together in Baton Rouge raising three daughters. Sarah enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed every event in which she was invited and those she invited herself to. She loved her weekly bridge groups and “craft group”. She loved attending LSU football games on Saturday nights and mass at St. Jude on Sunday mornings.

She is survived by her husband, Fred M. Smith; her daughters and son-in-laws, Fran and Cliff Brown, Addie “Tia” and Richard Byrd, and Carmen and Todd Clapsaddle; seven grandchildren, Chris Brown and wife Kelly, Jon Brown, Conner Byrd and wife Rachael, Taylor Byrd, Justin Byrd and wife Amanda, Sarah Clapsaddle, and Mark Clapsaddle; and ten great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Conner Byrd, Chris Brown, Jon Brown, Taylor Byrd, Justin Byrd, Mark Clapsaddle, Jacob Brown, and Nathan Sam.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Compassus Hospice and each of the PHS caregivers, especially Janice Ceasar.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 12:00 PM until services at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
