Shirley Hohensee

June 18, 1947 — November 3, 2021

Shirley Eberhart Hohensee, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on November 3, 2021, at the age of 74. She graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1965 and attended University of Southwestern Louisiana. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend. For over 20 years she worked with the BREC Park System where she taught line dancing, bridge, and planned special activities for local Senior Citizens. She was a passionate tennis player as a member of the Baton Rouge Tennis Association, a boot scootin’ line dancer as a member of the Honky Stompers, an avid reader, a die-hard Tiger fan, and a fun loving “Grandmommy.”

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Jimmy P. Hohensee; son, Boyd Halbert and wife Shelly; son, Benjy Halbert and wife Junie; daughter, Alison Bell; daughter, Amy Santos and husband Henry; daughter, Angelle Leblanc and husband Tony; brother, Randall Eberhart and partner Betty; brother, Glenn Eberhart and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Lolly Sango and husband Nick, Carlie Pierce, Kyler Halbert, Blake Halbert, Cade Halbert, Christian Leblanc and wife Phoenix, Camryn Leblanc and Brittyn Halbert; 5 great grandchildren, Aidynn, Beau, Wade, Jay, and Ezra.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter “Ebb” Eberhart and Eleanor Blouin Eberhart.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home on Monday, November 8th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or The American Cancer Society in Shirley’s name.
