Steve E. Williams

Steven Edward “Steve” Williams passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born January 6, 1956, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Ralph Sidney Williams, Jr. and Mary Lou Johnson Williams. He attended Istrouma High School before he began a long and successful career in the HVAC business. Steve was the second employee hired by River City A/C, and remained with them for over 36 years, retiring as their shop foreman. His years in the industry provided him with many achievements, but his love to train others is the success that mattered most to him and where he left an indelible mark.

In a date that lasted seven months, he quickly decided to marry the love of his life, Sue Marks Williams. They spent many nights at the Crazy Corner in New Orleans, where Steve ‘the music man’ would get on stage and play the washboard. He had the most infectious laugh and was always the life of the party! They enjoyed trips to Nashville, numerous cruises, but their place will always be Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Whether it was watching LSU football, woodworking, fishing, riding motorcycles, or fixing things for neighbors and friends – Steve always kept busy. There was nothing he couldn’t do or fix. He never met a stranger, knew everyone at his local Winn-Dixie and his famous jambalaya was always in big demand.

Steve is preceded in death by his father and his niece, Julie Williams. He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Sue Marks Williams; his loving mother Mary Williams; his brother Ralph S. Williams, III and his wife Laura; his uncle Gene Johnson and his wife Pam; his aunts, Callie Franklin and Margie Cedatol and her husband Carroll; his beloved niece Estelle Marks; nephews Joshua and Timothy Williams; his ‘daughter by choice’ Lu Thibodeaux Lesage, who lovingly called him ‘Step-Daddy Steve’ and her daughters Tori Bogan and Madison Thibodeaux; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

Steve was many things to many people, but no matter who you asked you would undoubtedly hear that he was humble, kind, dependable, genuine and always looking for ways to help others – the epitome of a silent hero. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
