Susan Mcallister

Susan Marie Matthews McAllister, age 69, a resident of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, passed away at home on March 14, 2022.

She graduated from Baker High School in 1971, and married James Richard (JR) McAllister at a small chapel in Mandeville, LA, on July 17, 1971.  They started their family shortly after and lived in Baker, then Baton Rouge, LA.  Susan retired from EBR as a school bus driver.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid gardener with beautiful roses.

Susan is survived by her mother, Lillie Mae Guillory Farrell of Central, LA; daughters, Sandra Ranell Ivy (Charles) of Covington, LA, Kristyne M. Reine (Chris) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Jamie M. Blanchard (Nicolas) of Gonzales, LA; three half-brothers, Robert L. Matthews, Jr. (Robin), Michael G. Matthews Sr. (Gayolyn), and Jeffrey L. Matthews (Christy) of Central, LA; Grandchildren, Dane, Zachariah and Shelby Ivy, Emma and Elaine Reine, Sadie Blanchard and Reese Bamburg. She leaves behind numerous cherished aunts, an uncle, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Matthews, Sr. (Joyce); beloved husband, James Richard (JR) McAllister; and half-brother, James Paul Chiasson.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, March 21, 2022, from 12:00 PM until services at 2:00 PM.  Burial will follow onsite.

The pallbearers will be Robert L. Matthews, Jr., Charles Ivy, Chris Reine, Nicolas Blanchard, Dane Ivy, and Zachariah Ivy.

Susan’s daughters extend their heartfelt thanks to Karen Brown for loving and caring for her over the past two years with love and dedication unlike any other.  We would also like to thank Susan’s friends for always being by her side and helping with her care, and to Clarity Hospice who lovingly cared for our family.
