In the faith of the Risen Christ, our family deeply mourns the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister Têrêsa Cao Kim Vân.
Teresa Van Kim Cao, also known as Cao Kim Van, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 77. After courageously living with Alzheimer’s disease for over a decade, she took her final breath at home, surrounded by the love of her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Born on May 20, 1949, in Rạch Giá, Vietnam, she lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and service. Van was a woman of profound virtue—a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a gentle, cherished grandmother. She was known for her kindness, nurturing spirit, and uplifting outlook on life.
She found joy in life’s simple blessings. A lover of the arts, she cherished music and cinema, delighting in both melody and story. Van expressed her love through the warmth of her home, especially in the meals she lovingly prepared, and through her unwavering optimism and kindness. Her presence brought comfort, peace, and quiet joy to all who knew her.
Van is survived by her beloved husband, Tram Phu, and her children: Loc Tram (Mi Tram), Quoc Tram (Loan Tram), Thuy Tram (Ha Le), Suong Tram (Du Truong), Lam Tram, Lan Tram (David Tran), and Hue Tram (Ahad Abdullah).
She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Lena Le, Hanson Tram, Marvin Tram, Ryan Tram, Calder Tram, Jasmine Truong, Isabel Tram, Emiley Truong, Natalie Le, Abigail Truong, Katherine Tran, Olivia Abdullah, Avery Tran, and Audrey Tran.
She is also survived by her siblings: Cao Thu Ha, Cao Thanh Mai, Cao Ngoc Diep, Cao Cam Nhung, Cao Minh Ly, Cao Hong Phuong, and Cao Kim Loan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cao Van Luong and Le Thi Ky; her children: Hong Tram, Thao Tram, and Xuyen Tram; and her brother Cao Thanh Tung, and his wife Vo Tuan.
In the Catholic faith, we trust that she is now at peace—reunited with loved ones and embraced in eternal rest. The memory of a grandmother who always smiled and loved her grandchildren unconditionally will live on forever in our hearts.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with Funeral Rites and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. Visitation will resume at St. Anthony of Padua & Le Van Phung Parish, 2305 Choctaw Drive in Baton Rouge, beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Interment will immediately follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Serving at Pallbearers will be Loc Tram, Quoc Tram, Du Truong, David Tran, Ahad Abdullah and Ryan Tram.
Please know that all your kind words and prayers are deeply appreciated. The family extends their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support as they navigate this difficult time.
We kindly ask that you continue to keep Têrêsa Cao Kim Vân in your prayers.
Respectfully, Phu Tram, along with children and grandchildren
