Virginia “Ginger” Richerson Bourgeois passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Damon Mound, Texas, but as a child, Ginger moved with her family several times between oil producing cities in Texas and Louisiana. She was Texan by birth but deeply loved her southern Louisiana life and her LSU Tigers.
She was the beloved wife of the late Louis, S. Bourgeois, III and a proud mother to Doss Bourgeois (Sally) and Ginger Berthelot (Daryl). “Me Me” was a deeply loved grandmother to Rick Webb, Melissa Webb, Kady Van Hook, Jena Hogan, Amanda Bourgeois, Micah Bourgeois, and Michael Berthelot. Her legacy continues through her nine great-grandchildren: Trent Webb, Brennen Bradley, Kara Anne Sabin, Rachel Van Hook, Adelaide Hogan, Beckett Hogan, Brayden Easton, and Cohen Bourgeois.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her parents, Oscar and Juanita Richerson; her sister, Juanita Fay Russell; her brother, Patrick Richerson; her son, Clifford “Kip” Bourgeois; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Bourgeois.
Ginger retired from the Louisiana Department of Labor after a 35-year career. Her work ethic and compassion was admired by all.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816, from 1:30 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
The family expresses sincere thanks to the staff at St. James Place, Bridgeway Hospice, and Dr. Ubaid Abbasi for their continuous care and compassion.
Ginger will be remembered for her generous spirit, love, support, and comfort to family and friends, and the pure joy she brought to those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, grace, and enduring love that will be felt for generations to come.
