Virginia “Vergie” Guidry Caillier was born in Cecilia, Louisiana on February 18, 1926, and passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice.  She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and Paul Domke, of Baton Rouge, and Carolyn Marie and Louie Cinquemano, of Katy, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Mitchell and The Honorable Kathryn E. “Betsy” Jones, of Clinton; six granddaughters, Michele Domke and Chris Ashy, of Baton Rouge, Angela Cinquemano, of Baton Rouge, Tara Domke and Raymond Dyer, of Prairieville, Carly Cinquemano and Jimmy Carughi, of Foley, Alabama, Keri Domke and SFC Caesar Camacho, of Ft. Knox, Kentucky, and Dr. Mary Leah Caillier and Jeremy Coco, of Baton Rouge; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas Holden Ashy, Madison Anne Camacho, Antonio James Carughi, Tavio Cinquemano, Annie Claire Coco, Chayse Alivia Camacho, Charlotte Grace Camacho, and Grayson Gage Camacho; and one brother, Kercy Guidry and wife Betty. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, The Golden Girls, and special friend Linda Mott. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Malcolm Mitchell Caillier, as well as her parents, sisters, and brothers. Pallbearers will be Chris Ashy, Raymond Dyer, Jimmy Carughi, Caesar Camacho, Jeremy Coco, Nicholas Ashy, Grayson Camacho, Antonio Carughi, and Tavio Cinquemano. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin O’Neal, Walter Lowe, and Clayton Hudson. Our special gratitude is extended to the staff of Garden View and Sunrise Assisting Living, The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice, and Dr. Lance LaMotte of Baton Rouge Cardiology. Services will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory on Monday, October 2, 2023 with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m.  A private, family graveside service will follow.
