Vita Digirolamo Wendt

Vita Digirolamo Wendt, cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the age of 78. Vita went to join her beloved husband, David Wendt, days after his passing, marking the end of a beautiful love story that spanned 57 years.

Born on July 29, 1948, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Vita had a warm spirit that drew others to her. She never met a stranger, embracing all with her infectious laughter and kindness. A loving mother, she dedicated her life to making those around her feel cherished and valued. Vita enjoyed gardening, and was an amazing cook. In her leisure time, she found joy in the outdoors, often hiking, fishing, and golfing alongside her husband, David.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Odell Wendt; parents, Anthony Digirolamo and Alice Cutrer Digirolamo; and brother, Anthony Wayne Digirolamo.

Vita is survived by her sons, Jason Wendt (Meg Mahoney), Joshua Wendt (Lauren), and Justin Wendt; grandchildren, Jack Fuselier, Luke Fuselier, Ella Wendt, Eden Wendt, Emma Willmes, and Sam Wendt; sisters, Kathy Digirolamo Walton, Polly Digirolamo Bertus, Cindy Digirolamo Pliler (Darrell), and Denise Digirolamo Tatum; and brother, David Digirolamo (Jeanette).

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ascension Oaks for their attentive care and support.

We would like to invite all who knew and loved Vita to join us as we commemorate her life. A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., in Baton Rouge, on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
