Obituary

Walton Lynn Irvin, a native of Burkeville, TX and a resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away at The Carpenter House on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the age of 90.

He was a graduate of Port Neches Groves High School and a graduate of Lamar University in 1958. He spent his career working as a Certified Public Accountant with Stupp Corporation, Post American Corporation, and with his own firm. He was also a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife 43 years, Mary Louise Herpich Irvin; children, Sherry Irvin Finley (Mike), Patti Irvin Gonzalez (Vince), Lisa Irvin Whitlatch (Blake), Joel Matthew Irvin, Giuseppe Cefalu (Robin), Lisa Cefalu, Christopher Cefalu, and Melanie Cefalu; grandchildren, Christopher Boswell, Dustin Boswell, Alicia Engle, Melinda Galjour, Sarah Cullins, Brittany Meurer, Hunter Hall, Gabrielle Hall, Siya Creel, Giuseppe Cefalu, Sara Kish, and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Cefalu; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; brother, Leslie David Irvin; mother of his children, Carol Jackson Morgan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtie Ellen Crutchfield; father, Walter Raymond “Pete” Crutchfield; sister, Julia Denise Williams; brother, Ottice Van Irvin; and granddaughter, Mandy Boswell Sledge.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkview Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff and nurses of St. Joseph Hospice and Carpenter House.
