Wilford Joseph Porche, Jr. (Boogie)

July 20, 1945 – May 22, 2022

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all of them also that love His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8.

Our beloved Husband, Daddy, Grandfather, and Brother lost his battle with cancer after a courageous fight. He was a kind and gentle soul that only saw the best in everyone. He retired from Asbestos Workers Local 53 at the young age of 42. He then went to work for the Pointe Coupee Sherrif’s Department, serving as Warden for many years, retiring as Captain. Will served 4 active years in the National Guard, and 2 years inactive.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly; children, Mandy (David), and Kevin; grandson, Bradley (Addie); great-grandchildren, Maddyn and Briggs; siblings, Barbara (Gilbert), Brenda (Jimmy), Peggy, Beverly, Jeff (Darlene), and Randy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Shane; parents, Mary Agnes and Wilford Porche, Sr.; grandparents, Alberica and Noelia Porche, and Lelio and Ida Mix.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25, at St. Mary’s of False River beginning at 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christial Burial at 12:00 PM by Fr. Chris Decker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Eaves, Logan Thomas, Albert Labatut, Barry Labatut. Pallbearers will be Jeff Porche, Randy Porche, Kevin Porche, Bradley Amond, David Reeves, Jimmy Robillard.

The family would like to give special thanks to Pointe Coupee Home Health and Hospice. Also to Dr. Andrew Lauve, Dr. Donald Doucet, and Dr. Christopher McCanless. Will will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
