William Conner Martin, Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on July 3, 2026, at the age of 91. Will was born in Philadelphia, PA, and lived in Manhasset, NY, before moving to Natchez, MS, at age 11, graduating from Natchez High School in 1953.

Will graduated from LSU in 1959 and was a lifelong LSU Tiger fan, attending numerous LSU football, basketball, baseball, and Lady Tiger basketball sporting events. He was a cartographer with the U.S. Geological Survey, serving there for 37 years before retiring. Will loved caring for and taking his dogs (Duchess and Sophie) for walks around the neighborhood. He was a longtime member and usher at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, and most recently a member at St. John’s United Methodist Church. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, William Thompson Martin, Jr., and mother, Eliza Conner Martin.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Loretta Shuffield Martin; three daughters, Lisa Martin Ludwig and husband Trip, Holly Martin Miller and husband Leon, and Mary Kathryn “Tat” Martin; one son, Teddy Martin and wife Nicole; seven grandchildren, Caroline Ludwig, Eddie Ludwig, Catherine Miller, Sarah Miller, Michael Miller, Meredith Martin, Grace Martin; two great-grandchildren, Edward Ludwig and Lucie Ludwig. Also survived by his brothers-in-law Phillip Ross “Ross” Shuffield, Jr. (Gwen), and George Richard “Ricky” Shuffield (Pat); and sister-in-law Sudie Shuffield LeMasters (Earl).

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at the Baton Rouge General Hospital and the Baton Rouge Rehabilitation Center.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Will’s life on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at St. John Methodist Church beginning at 9:00 AM until funeral service at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Natchez City Cemetery in Natchez, MS.
