July 31, 1932 — May 31, 2024

William “Buck” Lelon Corbin, Jr. peacefully passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on July 31, 1932 in Monroe, LA to William Lelon Corbin, Sr. and Evelin Blanche Davis. Buck was a wonderful son, doting husband, hardworking father, proud Pawpaw, and devout Catholic.

Buck was a native of Monroe, LA and graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1950. Buck and Alma Marie Antley became engaged in 1951 and wed on July 3, 1952 in West Monroe, LA. He then attended Northeast Louisiana State College and Louisiana Tech University, where he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1960. From 1955-1957, Buck served in the United States Army, with 16 of those months being stationed in South Korea. From 1960, Buck and Alma resided in Searcy, AR, Minden, LA, New Orleans, LA, and finally in Baton Rouge, LA where they raised three children - Bill, Beth, and Beverly. Most of Buck’s career was spent at Walk Haydel & Associates as a Mechanical Engineer for 33 years. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi and was a part of projects at Exxon, Chevron, Georgia Pacific, Georgia Gulf, City of Kenner, City of New Orleans, and many other establishments. After he retired, Buck also practiced as a realtor for over 9 years in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Buck was also a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Board of Directors for Louisiana USA Federal Credit Union, National Rifle Association, and Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors.

Buck is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 63 years, Alma Marie Antley Corbin; his parents, William Lelon Corbin, Sr. and Evelin Blanche Davis Corbin; his brother, Richard Dave Corbin; and his two son-in-laws, Dr. Marlon C. Rico Jr. and Troy Steven Pourciau.

Buck is survived by his son, William “Bill” Corbin III and daughter-in-law, Seresa Corbin; two daughters, Beth Corbin Rico and Beverly Corbin Pourciau; 5 grandchildren, Lani Corbin Litchfield (BJ), William “Lee” Lelon Corbin IV (Jodi), Haven Pourciau Sampey (Kenny), Camryn Pourciau, and McKaylee Pourciau; 6 great-grandchildren, Alexis Litchfield, Stella Litchfield, Graham Sampey, Jolie Corbin, Beckham Corbin, and Hudson Sampey; brother-in-law, Doyle Antley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Buck enjoyed to fish any chance he got, but especially at his Toledo Bend and Lake St. John camps. He also enjoyed hunting, which he did well into his 80’s, and spending time at the Greensburg Hunting Club. He attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he served as an Usher and Reader. Buck also loved spending time with his family, his early morning oatmeal while reading the newspaper, red sock Saturdays, two-pocket shirts, tinkering with things around the house, mastering the iPhone and computer, and being talked into pretty much anything by the ones that called him “Pawpaw.”
