William "Bill" J. Drago passed away on December 26, 2023, at the age of 91. Bill was born on August 28, 1932, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Mary Grace and Vincent Drago. Bill touched the lives of many through his long and successful career as a pharmacist, his dedication to his community, and his love for family.
After graduating Catholic High in 1950, Bill then went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Loyola University of New Orleans. This educational foundation would serve as the stepping stone for his career as a pharmacist that spanned over 50 years. Following graduation, Bill served in the U.S. Army as a Pharmacist during the Korean War era.
Bill was the proud owner of Drago's Pharmacy in Monte Sano, where he tirelessly served the community. He later became owner of Nottingham Pharmacy in the Sherwood Forest area. Bill's career further flourished as he transitioned to K&B, which later became Rite Aid, where he eventually retired.
In his free time, Bill enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, and cheering on his favorite sports team, LSU. He was also a member of The American Legion and remained connected to Catholic High School through various alumnus activities.
Bill is survived by his children, Cynthia Drago, Lisa Broussard (Mike), David Drago, Jon Drago, Gene Drago, and Dane Drago; brothers, Thomas Drago (Carmel), Gerald Drago (Amy), and Ronnie Drago; grandchildren, Tiffany Drago, and Michelle Broussard; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Grace and Vincent Drago; his son, Bryan K. Drago; sisters, Ida Mae Drago, and Louise Vicaro; and grandson, Christopher M. Broussard.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the team at St. Joseph’s Hospice, for the care and compassion they provided during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, in Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
