Rev. Mitch Harris

Willie “Mitch” Harris, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born July 22, 1946, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to John and Nergie Harris.

Bro. Mitch was a graduate of Zachary High School, Class of ’64, and attended Louisiana State University before continuing his education at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned an Associate of Divinity. He further continued his studies at Rochville University in Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Divinity, Master of Religious Studies, and a Doctor of Theology.

Bro. Mitch was ordained in 1984 at Galilee Baptist Church and went on to pastor numerous churches over the years. He served the church in any way he could; whether that was in the choir, leading Sunday School, or directing VBS… but his biggest joy was leading people to Christ. He was a member of True Light Baptist Church, and was a great servant of the Lord, always supported by his devout wife, Pat.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat Harris; and daughter, Michele Dawn Harris.

Bro. Mitch is survived by his sons, Brian Harris, Craig Harris (Melissa) and Tony Harris (Amy); grandchildren, Katelynn Payne (Payton), Kelsey Harris, Joey Harris (Ashley), Matthew Harris, Andrew Harris (Fallon), Cole Harris, and Olivia Kennard (Jadon); and great-grandchildren, Weston, Adalynn, Nora Kate, Tallulah, Abigail and Hansen; as well as numerous other family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
