Willie Mae Rabb Holt

February 11, 1927 — April 4, 2024

Willie Mae Rabb Holt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully surrounded by family in Baton Rouge on April 4, 2024. She was born on February 11, 1927. A native of Baton Rouge, she was the cherished wife of Dr. Milton O. Holt. She was a master quilter and owner of “The Thimble” Quilt Shop.

After graduating high-school, Willie pursued her education in Nursing School, honing her skills and nurturing her innate passion for helping those in need. She and her husband were charter members of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, where they found faith and community throughout their lives. 

Willie's interests were vast and varied - from quilting to cheering on LSU sports, fishing, cooking delicious meals, spoiling her dog Bubbles, and exploring the world with her loved ones. Her spirit of adventure and love for life shone brightly in everything she did. She was a constant inspiration with her positivity, strength, faith, and wonderful sense of humor. As the devoted family matriarch, Willie’s legacy will endure through generations. 


Willie is survived by her loving friends and family. Daughters, Ivllon Holt Zachary, Myla Holt Matherne (Mark), Monya Holt Crowell (Clay), Cheree Holt Devall Brown (Danny); son and favorite daughter-in-law, Milton O. Holt Jr., and Cindy Holt; baby brother and adored sister-in-law, Warren Rabb and Lynn Rabb; 12 grandchildren; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her lifelong cousin and friend, Betty Jo Wilkinson, and her beloved Bubbles. 

Willie is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Milton O. Holt; her mother, Velma Mixon Rabb; her father, Archie Marion Rabb Sr.; in-laws, Walter and Ligon Holt; daughters, Linda Holt Sullivan and Montie “Muggs” Holt Gonzales; sister, Inez Rabb Rivault; brothers, A.M. “Arch” Rabb and Amos Rabb, and her special friends, “Sweet” Olive Randall, Henry Washington, and Doretha Odom. 

Pallbearers will be Montie Grey Sibley, Hadley Holt Zachary, Jase Holt, Logan Louviere, Tristan Miller and Holton Breaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be Warren Rabb, Danny Brown, Clay Crowell and Mark Matherne. 

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816 on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Brycen Brown and Pastor Monya Rabb Holt Crowell.   Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
