Wilton "Sonny" J. Pino

Wilton Joseph (Sonny) Pino, Jr., age 96 passed away in Sandy Springs, GA on August 17, 2026. Sonny was born in Baton Rouge, LA on June 21, 1930, to Wilton Joseph Pino, Sr. and Ida Mae Davis Pino and attended school in Baker, LA. He met the love of his life, Patsy Ruth Vick, at the Community Club in Baton Rouge in 1949 where they shared a love for music and dancing which continued throughout their days together.

In March of 1951, Sonny joined the Army serving in the 24th Artillery - 13th Battalion in Korea during the Korean Conflict. In July of 1951, while on leave, Sonny and Patsy were married. After his discharge in January of 1953, Sonny worked in the plumbing industry. Sonny and Patsy raised their three boys, David, Brian, and Tracy.

Sonny ran the successful Pino Mechanical Contractors until the 1980s when he transitioned the company into P-Knows, Inc. before he retired in 2014. Sonny’s curious and mechanical mind helped him discover various plumbing innovations and create new products and devices. He holds 16 US patents and 1 Canadian patent. He was named “Inventor of the Year” in 1992 by the United States Commerce Department-Office of Patents in Washington, DC.

He is survived by his sons, David Wayne (Vicki Hebert) and Brian Paul (Lisa Delcambre); grandchildren, Jason (Destiny), Jeremy, Cory, Jennifer, Matthew, Blake (Erica), Jordan (Michael), and Anthony; his great-grandchildren, Ava, Sebastian, Gabrielle, Beau, Sonnie, Hazel, Justin, Cynthia, Bryson, Jayden, Lily and Zachary.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Patsy, his mother and father, son Tracy Alan, daughter Rhonda Gayle, sister Joyce Mae Pino Johnson and brother-in-law Clifford Johnson, Sr.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Somerby’s Sandy Springs for their excellent care during his nine years in residence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy in Baton Rouge on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Honoring Sonny as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
