Fay Schexnyder Legendre born in New Orleans on October 31, 1930, a resident of Baton Rouge since the late 1950’s, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is a graduate of St. Joseph Academy High School in New Orleans. Fay spent much of her life as a homemaker with her many long-term coffee drinking and card playing friends of Lorraine St. She was devoted to the Lord and her family. She was a long-time member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church and St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, both of Baton Rouge.
Fay loved each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed supporting their unique talents and abilities. She was a lifelong caregiver to her family and many others. Fay is survived by her children Judy Legendre Singleton, David (Patti), Mark (Mary), Michael (Terri), and Gary (Linda), 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren with another coming soon, her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Tom DuBos, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by beloved husband of 36 years, Daniel Legendre and her parents, Andrew and Mabel Schexnyder.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, Jefferson Highway, on Friday, May 6 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7 PM. Visitation will resume at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church on Saturday, May 7 from 8:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Graveside Service will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Jefferson Highway.
The family extends a sincere thanks to the caretakers who cared for Fay over the last several years, especially Ms. Taushica (Ms. T) Traylor. Fay loved all her caretakers very much. The caretakers went above their call.
