Hollis M. Taylor

July 4, 1955 ~ April 7, 2021 (age 65)

Hollis M. Taylor passed away early April 7th after an arduous and courageous battle against leukemia.

Born on July 4th, 1955, Hollis was the youngest of the three children of the late James and Frances Taylor of Kenner, La.

He attended John Clancy Elementary School in Kenner and Kehoe Academy in River Ridge, where he lettered in football, basketball, track and tennis and was valedictorian of his senior class.  He attended LSU, where he was a member of Acacia Fraternity. He was also an ardent music fan, and a competitive pool player and cook.

While at LSU, he took a part-time job with PartyPix, which ultimately led him to his true vocation, photography.  Following college, Hollis worked for Lagniappe Studio in New Orleans and covered events throughout. He then started his own business, Hollis M. Taylor, Photographer.

As a result of Hurricane Katrina, Hollis and wife Linda relocated to Baton Rouge where he continued to work as a freelance photographer specializing in commercial photography.

Hollis is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Linda; stepdaughter, Erin O'Dowd; brother, Jim Taylor and wife, Linda; sister, Nancy Kaufman; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Words can hardly express the scope of Hollis' being his love of his wife and family, of music, concerts, food, wine, and LSU. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Hollis wished to be cremated. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
