Obituary

Olive Fontenot Grimball left to be with our Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ and her beloved husband, Isaac ‘Ike’ Grimball, who passed March 14, 1977. She was 93 years old at their joyful reunion. Olive passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 25, 2020, into the arms of Jesus. Our mother was born on August 19, 1926 in Port Barre, La. to Mayo and Buela Wyble Fontenot. She was the oldest of eight children. She married Isaac ‘Ike’ Grimball on September 1, 1943. They had three children and from those three, were blessed with eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Olive was a successful businesswoman, an Interior Decorator specializing in Drapery, for over 40 years. Her works, through those years, were admired at the Lady of the Lake Hospital, First Baker Baptist Church, Parkview Baptist, many offices and countless homes. Through the years Olive enjoyed, raising chickens, cows, ducks, growing vegetable gardens and beautiful flower beds that rested at times over 50 rose bushes. She definitely had a green thumb. Olive truly enjoyed her home inside and out and all the many blessings that the Lord had given her. A very strong and gifted lady, she loved and cherished her family in her on special way and was a good friend to many. She and dad were long time member of First Baker Baptist Church, Baker, La., where they enjoyed serving the Lord.  They gave their children a Christ-filled home, of which we are grateful.

She is survived by her sister, Lillian Fontenot Goudeau; brother, Earnest Fontenot; children and spouses, Lester James Grimball (Eleanor Gay Carmouche Grimball), Diane Grimball Smith (Charles), Vera Jane Grimball Theriot (Milton Joseph ‘Terry’ Theriot, Jr.); grandchildren and spouses, Robert Troy Grimball (Roda Labrilla Grimball), Aleta Gay Grimball O’Brien (Gregory Patrick ‘Greg’ O’Brien Sr.), Shannah Laine Smith Baldwin (Robert), Misty Lynn Smith Martinez (Kraig Paul Martinez), Lori Leigh Smith Grace (Joey), Christopher Joseph Theriot (Rowena Labrilla Theriot), Michelle Renee’ Grimball Theriot and Daniel Matthew Carbo, and Jonathan David Theriot (Taylor Leigh LeBlanc Theriot); great-grandchildren and spouses,  Gregory Patrick O’Brien Jr., Troy James ‘T.J.’ Grimball, Sarah Renee’ Martinez Burris (Lucas), Adam Charles Martinez, Bailee Rose Grace, Faith Caroline Grace, Caleb Isaac Theriot, Brittany Nichole Theriot Thompson (Estus), Nathan Matthew Theriot, Isabel Adorestine Carbo, Isaac Matthew Carbo; great-great-grandchildren, Zachary Estus Thompson, Harper Claire Burris and Sophia Nichole Thompson; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
